In this month’s Meet the Team Member we are proud to highlight Emma Davies. Emma is the Senior Payroll Technician in our Payroll & Pensions department and has been with the company for two years. Emma, along with Adam Nettleship Bigmores MD, set up Bigmore Payroll & Pensions and Emma is responsible for processing the payrolls for our clients.
How did you end up working in your respective field?
Completely by accident after my husband started his own business and I had to learn how to run payroll for his staff.
What do you love about your job?
Its black and white! Rules you need to follow and steps and processes that you have to follow to complete your tasks. It’s a very methodical job.
What's the biggest misconception people have about your position?
That it is complicated, its really not. Once you learn and understand the basics I would argue its really quite simple. Even when things don’t quite go to plan you can usually pinpoint the error and retrace your steps and highlight the issue. The most important aspect is to check and recheck, its surprisingly easy to make a small mistake that has huge consequences.

Any favourite local spots or businesses in Walton you'd like to recommend?
It would have to be the George pub just opposite the office, Its where I met Luke so its nostalgic!
What do you think is the most important part of employee wellbeing?
Knowing that you have someone to talk through any issues you may have and also knowing that you will receive support.
What do you do to maintain your wellbeing on busy days?
Get out and walk the dog! I work from home mainly and taking 30 minutes out in the fresh air really clears your mind.
