Equity release mortgages are also known as lifetime mortgages; they allow you to raise a lump sum at a fixed interest rate which can be added to the loan (these are known as ‘roll up’ schemes).

You do not have to make monthly payments and your retain ownership of your home.

Below are a list of some of the advantages an equity release mortgage can offer

-    Plans are available to customers who are aged 55 or over

-    Fixed interest rates are applied

-    Products are available where you can pay off the interest each month

-    Option to have additional borrowing in the future

-    Option to protect a proportion of equity for your famiy

-    You can continue to live in your home until you die or move into long

     term care

 -   You retain 100% ownership of your home which therefore benefits

you if your home increases in value

-    You can use an equity release mortgage to pay off existing mortgages

     or any unsecured loans

-    The cash is tax free and can be spent on whatever you wish

-    You can choose not to make any interest payment

-    Some lenders allow you to move home and move the mortgage to the

     new property.
